FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WILMINGTON, N.C. (December 11, 2024)
— CustomEyes is honoring the legacy of a beloved Marine Corps veteran and uncle, Samuel Jackson Grice, by hosting a Toys for Tots drive to benefit children in the Wilmington area. Gregor Owen, owner of CustomEyes, learned the important value of honor, courage, and commitment to others, hallmarks of the Marine way. He wishes to honor the great man and American hero he was, inspired by Grice's life of service and mentorship through this toy drive initiative.
Samuel Jackson Grice was born in 1919 and served in the Marine Corps all of his adult life and served in every Pacific Island conflict of WW II. At the end of his career, he passed along his experiences as a Drill Instructor, molding young men into true Marines. Gregor wishes to have lived a life that would make his uncle proud, inspired by the great example his uncle set daily.
Join the Mission
No stranger to giving back, CustomEyes has previously partnered with organizations like Relay for Life to mark its grand opening in support of cancer research, Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Inc., empowering individuals to break the cycle of domestic violence, as well as Boys and Girls Club of Southeastern North Carolina. In 2022, CustomEyes partnered with Coastal Horizons for a charity fashion show, championing mental health and wellness, and recently worked with the Historic Wilmington Foundation and Legacy Architectural Salvage, diverting tons of wood from landfills to salvage for area homes. This Toys for Tots drive builds on a foundation of charitable work, bringing the Wilmington community together during the holiday season.
The drive encourages community members to donate new, unwrapped toys
that will be distributed to children in Wilmington and surrounding areas. As a token of appreciation, CustomEyes is offering incentives for participants:
- 10% discount on in-stock frames with your donation of a toy.
- Extra Savings on Gucci Frames: Already marked down by 30%, receive an additional 10% off prescription lenses with your toy contribution.
Donations can be dropped off at CustomEyes, located at 1540 S 2nd St #120, Wilmington, NC 28401 in downtown Wilmington, during business hours through December 19th.
